Pattern Pursuit Basics
- Build a shared playing area by placing square color cards directly on the table.
- Match your pattern cards by recreating one of your faceup patterns in the shared grid.
- Watch your rivals’ patterns so you can block their matches while building your own.
- Score your patterns and keep racing — the first player to complete all their pattern cards wins.
Set Up Your Pattern Race
- Start your pattern stack.
Each player gets a facedown pile of 8 pattern cards. - Reveal 2 patterns.
Place 2 pattern cards faceup in front of you. These are the patterns you’re trying to match. - Draw 5 build cards.
Each player gets 5 square build cards in hand. - Start the shared grid.
Players build one central playing area together using square color cards.
Everyone builds in the same space — so every move matters.
Build Yours. Block Theirs.
- Play a card.
On your turn, place a square build card into the shared playing area. - Grow the grid.
Add cards to create or change the central pattern. - Watch everyone's patterns.
Look at your opponents’ faceup pattern cards so you can block them while building yours. - Use special cards.
Play action cards to cover, swap, zap, bomb, or take another turn.
One smart move can help you score — or stop a rival.

When you match a pattern, score that card. - Reveal the next one.
